Dear readers,
In honour of the biblically defined original woman, the timeless embodiment of wit and audacity, let us pay homage to Eve, the captivating soul who fearlessly plucked the apple from the boughs of the Tree of Life.
In the annals of history, I have never held Eve solely responsible for the perceived downfall of humankind; on the contrary, I believe she was the catalyst for our collective evolution.
She possessed the audacious spirit to question, to challenge the status quo, to create and to venture into the realm of the unknown. Eve, the harbinger of curiosity, instigated a paradigm shift that ignited the flames of enlightenment and self-discovery, forever altering the course of our existence.
While I am not religious per say, I respect and honour it. I grew up religious, was enrolled in Religious Studies (along with Economics) at Brown University, and I find religious texts (e.g. Bhagavad Gita, The Old Testament, etc.) to be some of the greatest literature.
Thus, I celebrate what Eve represents, acknowledging her pivotal role in the intricate tapestry of human experience and her enduring influence on our journey towards self-realisation.
Poetry in Eden embodies and honours Eve, though it also wholeheartedly honours Adam, her companion and other half, the biblically defined original man, the timeless embodiment of masculinity. Some weeks I will write from the point of view of Eve, and other weeks from Adam’s. We are evolved yet primitive beings, and I believe our tribulations and triumphs are like us. This balanced insight is felt in my writing.
Here at Poetry in Eden, you will receive my poetry. In the very near future, you will be able to purchase these poems and many more in a collection covering 15 years of my poetic work.
Do not fret: ICARUS, my fantasy cross-over book series, which is complete and polished-edited at >300 pages, is still on the traditional publishing route. I am building a following while looking for the right literary agent, so, if you know of any, please send them my way!
Welcome to Eden - Welcome to our garden - Welcome to a paradise of poetry where we can dream.
In Eden, From Eve
I am not immortal, and thus
I love with my whole heart.
I tend to the garden because
Growth is me playing my part.
I see the tree where the apple hangs.
I see the future and who we became.
I did it for you, and I'd do it again.
Seeking the truth is the path of humans.
You say destruction takes one bite, yet
When I open my eyes all I see is white light.
Innovation and complexity wash over the night.
We are not immortal, and thus must not fight.
Alas, my dear wanderer,
Live by our prayers.
Our spirits reside on the horizon.
One day I’ll meet you there . . .
