The Importance of Long-Term Goals
Long-term goals provide direction, motivation, and a sense of purpose. They push individuals and organizations to think strategically, make informed decisions, and build resilience. While the journey can be challenging, the rewards of achieving long-term objectives are often substantial and fulfilling.
This week’s POETRY IN EDEN podcast (Apple, Spotify) explores how values shape our actions today and for the future. I am a lifelong learner, so I am always looking for new ways to work efficiently towards my dreams, while also mastering presence and enjoying the here and now.
I also love to listen to and understand the personal experiences of others as a way to uncover similarities in this human pursuit.
Case Studies: Lessons from Success
While every situation is unique, studying successful case studies can provide valuable insights and inspiration. Here are a few well-known examples on “success.”
Walt Disney faced numerous setbacks and hardships before building a global entertainment empire, and a lot of it only came to fruition post mortem. Over decades, his persistence, creativity, and focus on customer experience are key takeaways. Themes of family, perseverance, and overcoming adversity are prevalent in many of his films, such as Cinderella and Snow White. Disney's ability to draw from his own experiences and connect with audiences on a personal level was a key factor in his success as a storyteller.
Apple reinvented personal computing and the smartphone industry. Before Apple entered the mobile devices market, people were extremely skeptical of the company and some even said it was doomed to fail / “dead on arrival.” Their focus on design, user experience, and brand building is a hallmark of their success.
Nike built a global sports brand through powerful marketing and athlete endorsements. Their willingness to stay and fight became clear after they almost went bankrupt in 1977. Their emphasis on personal performance and motivation resonates with consumers.
“Greatness needs a lot of things, but it does not need an audience. . . Greatness is not born, it is made. . .Greatness is for all of us!”

Rest your ship on Mount Ararat.
Once the floods subside, the birds will sing.
You have fulfilled a divine prophecy and only a few can accompany me
To our new world. Though, I did not spare the aristocracy,
or those who tout a lofty legacy.
I spared the humble, the open minded, and the aware. I did not spare
the man with the most words or the finest hair.
I spared the honest, the marginalised, and the morally fair.

This
Rainbow
Is
My covenant.
It is the promise I always meant
To give you and to show you.
It is the promise I always meant
for you.
I hope you always think of it when
Clouds start to form, and you feel a pull
to conform. You are so much more.
This is my covenant.
